Description

TSC-250 Cutter Drum — the Widest Assembly in the Series

The TSC-250 is a self-propelled machine rated at 7.5 kW and weighing 209 kg, and its drum matches that class: six Ø18 × 245 mm shafts and 90 cutters across a 250 mm width. This is the thickest shaft and the densest armament we build — necessary for the machine to use its full 0–8 mm range of removal per pass.

A Ø18 mm shaft for full depth

At 8 mm of removed material the force on the shaft bears no comparison with surface work. A diameter of 18 mm over a 245 mm length provides the stiffness reserve that keeps the shaft from deflecting under full load and transmitting run-out to the end plates. This is why the TSC-250 drum is not simply a wider version of the TSC-200 drum.

90 cutters across a 250 mm path

Each of the six shafts carries 15 cutters. A path 25% wider than on 200 mm machines translates directly into square metres per hour at the same travel speed — and is the main reason the TSC-250 goes onto large industrial floors.

A wear symptom specific to a self-propelled machine

Besides falling depth and banded texture, the TSC-250 gives a third signal: the machine starts pulling to one side. That happens when part of the armament stops cutting and resistance on one side of the drum drops noticeably below the other. With a powered drive this is felt well before it becomes visible.

An assembly for the TSC-250 alone

The 250 mm body width and Ø18 mm shafts appear in this model only. The TSC-150 and TSC-200 run a 200 mm path on Ø12 and Ø15 mm shafts, so their drums do not fit the TSC-250 end plates.

The TSC-250 drum in the Toolsa range

We ship the assembly with its full set of 90 cutters and spacers. On a machine in continuous duty a spare drum cuts downtime to the swap itself. The remaining wearing parts are in the scarifier drums and cutters category.

Questions and answers

Which model does the TSC-250 drum fit?

The drum fits the self-propelled Toolsa TSC-250 Auto Drive scarifier rated at 7.5 kW and 400 V only. The binding figures are a 250 mm body width and shafts of 18 mm diameter and 245 mm length. The TSC-150 and TSC-200 have a 200 mm body and thinner shafts.

Why is the TSC-250 shaft as thick as 18 mm?

Because the machine removes up to 8 mm in a single pass, and the force on the shaft grows with cutting depth. An 18 mm diameter over a 245 mm length provides the stiffness that keeps the shaft from deflecting under full load. On the TSC-200, where the range stops at 5 mm, a Ø15 mm shaft is sufficient.

How many cutters does the drum hold and how are they arranged?

The drum holds 90 cutters, 15 on each of six Ø18 mm shafts. This is the densest armament in the TSC series — the TSC-200 carries 72 cutters and the TSC-150 carries 68, both on a narrower 200 mm path. The cutters are threaded loosely and separated by spacer washers.

How do I recognise a worn drum on a self-propelled machine?

Besides depth falling below the set range and a banded texture, the characteristic symptom is the machine pulling to one side. This means cutting resistance is lower on one side of the drum — part of the cutters have stopped working or have jammed on the shaft.

What work is a machine with this drum intended for?

The 0–8 mm range over a 250 mm path covers both profiling a floor before a resin coating (removal close to zero) and stripping thick layers of adhesive, screed or road marking. Its 209 kg mass and powered drive place it on large industrial floors.

Does the TSC-250 need dust extraction?

The extraction port measures 48 mm. Removing up to 8 mm per pass produces many times more debris than a 200 mm machine, so extraction serves two purposes: it protects the operator from respirable dust and clears the material that would block the rotation of 90 cutters on their shafts.
