Description

Toolsa DSB250-30 — a complete core drilling setup up to 250 mm

The DSB250-30 is our DDB 30 motor factory-paired with the DS 250 stand. The set wet-drills holes up to 250 mm in concrete, reinforced concrete and masonry: pipe penetrations, ventilation ducts and air-conditioning openings. Both parts come from the same product line and are matched in drilling range.

Drive: DDB 30

A 3000 W brushless motor with a 620, 1330 and 2680 rpm gearbox and 40 Nm of torque. No carbon brushes means none to replace and, according to factory data, 25% higher cutting efficiency than a brushed design. The electronic clutch softens the start and the mechanical clutch cuts the drive when the bit jams. The motor weighs 6.4 kg.

Guidance: DS 250

The stand, with a 900 mm column and 600 mm travel, keeps the motor on one axis while the feed is applied with a lever. The 400 × 230 mm base transfers the torque reaction to the floor, so the hole has straight walls and the bit does not wander when starting. The stand weighs 16.5 kg and takes bits up to 252 mm.

Choosing the gear

The rule is simple: large bit, low gear. Holes up to 200 mm in concrete and 250 mm in brick are drilled in first gear, up to 100 and 130 mm in second, up to 60 and 80 mm in third. The right speed protects the diamond segments from overheating and shortens drilling time.

Compared with the DS220-22 and DS400-33

The DS220-22 uses the same stand but has a brushed 2200 W DD 22 motor with a range up to 220 mm. The DSB250-30 gives 800 W more and 30 mm more range with a lighter motor. For holes up to 400 mm there is the DS400-33 rig.

What the set does not include

Core bits are chosen separately for the diameters and material you need. To fix the stand on a smooth floor without an anchor, use the VP 120 vacuum pump. The motor and the stand are also sold separately: DDB 30 and DS 250. All sets are in the stand-mounted core drills category.

Questions and answers

What is included in the Toolsa DSB250-30 core drill?

The Toolsa DSB250-30 consists of the brushless Toolsa DDB 30 motor rated at 3000 W and the Toolsa DS 250 stand with a 900 mm column. The two parts weigh about 23 kg together: 6.4 kg motor and 16.5 kg stand. Core bits and the VP 120 vacuum pump are chosen separately.

What jobs is the Toolsa DSB250-30 suited to?

The Toolsa DSB250-30 wet-drills core holes up to 250 mm in concrete, reinforced concrete and masonry. Typical uses are penetrations for drain and water pipes, ventilation ducts, air-conditioning openings and anchor holes in slabs and walls.

How do I fix the DS 250 stand to the surface?

The Toolsa DS 250 stand is fixed with an anchor through its 400 × 230 mm base, or by vacuum using the Toolsa VP 120 pump and a suction plate. Vacuum fixing needs a smooth, airtight surface such as a floor or concrete slab. For drilling into a wall or ceiling, an anchor is used.

Why is a core drill cooled with water?

Water fed through the G 1/4" fitting on the DDB 30 motor cools the diamond segments, flushes slurry out of the cut and binds dust. Without cooling, segments overheat and lose their edge. For 100–250 mm holes in reinforced concrete, wet drilling is the standard.

Which gear should I use for a 150 mm hole in concrete?

A 150 mm hole in concrete is drilled with the Toolsa DSB250-30 in first gear, 620 rpm, because second gear (1330 rpm) only covers up to 100 mm in concrete. A lower speed with a large bit keeps the segments at the right cutting speed and protects them from overheating.

How does the DSB250-30 differ from the Toolsa DS220-22?

Both Toolsa sets use the DS 250 stand. The DSB250-30 has a brushless 3000 W DDB 30 motor with a range up to 250 mm, while the DS220-22 has a brushed 2200 W DD 22 motor with a range up to 220 mm. The DDB 30 motor weighs 6.4 kg, about 3 kg less than the DD 22.
